Julie Watson
Certified Yoga Therapist, C-IAYT, E-RYT 500, YACEP
Corrective Exercise Specialist, NASM-CES

I’m a Certified Yoga Therapist, an educator and an experienced yoga and movement teacher.

I’ve been practicing yoga since 2000 and teaching for 15 years. My work is influenced by my interest in anatomy, physiology, and neurology, and I blend modern science and functional movement with traditional yogic wisdom as a holistic integrative approach that supports your health and healing. Together we explore your wellness path, which may not be linear, and we build on what’s working and create a plan to help you feel, move and live better in your body.

“Together we explore your wellness path, which may not be linear, and we build on what’s working and create a plan to help you feel, move and live better in your body.”

I hold a C-IAYT with the International Association of Yoga Therapists. I am also a Corrective Exercise Specialist, a 500 E-RYT and continued education provider with Yoga Alliance, and an educator for yoga teachers and therapists.

I’ve dedicated many years to serving others with mental health needs, acute and chronic pain, neurological issues, as well as providing modalities for healing and rehabilitating injuries. Along with my private practice, for over 5 years I’ve worked in in the healthcare environment as part of an interdisciplinary team of doctors, psychologists, and physical therapists at a pain care center. From spinal injuries to joint replacements, frozen shoulder to repetitive stress injuries, I teach patients functional movement, exercise, and yoga therapy to better manage their pain and improve their physical function. I also teach group meditation and breathing lectures to help improve sleep and manage mental health.

My work combines postures, movement, corrective exercise, self-myofascial release, breathwork, meditation, and Ayurveda. I’ve logged over 8000 hours of teaching yoga and yoga therapy to others, and I focus my continued studies on specialized training to serve my community. My 1900 hours of studies include training in Yoga Therapy, Viniyoga, Hatha Yoga, PT-based Yoga Therapeutics, Meditation, Pranayama, Yoga Philosophy, Ayurveda, Prenatal Yoga and various yoga training for Mental Health, Trauma and Recovery support. My corrective exercise specialization credential is with the National Academy of Sports Medicine.

Before teaching yoga and movement, my tenacity to get work done as an engineer could at times push me to the edge (read more about my journey here). When I suffered a repetitive stress injury that eventually led to chronic pain, yoga and movement became the catalyst for healing and change in my life. I now use my experience in management, mentoring and teaching to help guide my clients and patients. My goal is to empower others to live a better and healthier life.
