Individual programs can benefit your mind-body awareness and help improve your quality of life. As your teacher, I guide your practice to support your unique needs and goals and to help you rediscover a state of enhanced well-being.

I offer yoga instruction and yoga therapy programs. Unsure of the difference?

Yoga instruction offers a variety of techniques to learn and explore this ancient practice. Most people start out seeking a physical practice to improve their strength and flexibility. Some start seeking meditation for relaxation. Over time, you may be interested in breathing exercises or anatomical education. Regardless of where you start, you will discover that yoga has much to offer.

Yoga therapy is more specific. Yoga therapy is about you and your issues or conditions. Yoga therapy is the professional application of the principles and practices of yoga to promote health and well-being within a therapeutic relationship that includes personalized assessment, goal setting, lifestyle management, and yoga and movement practices.

Yoga therapy sessions can target pain or injury, and even help improve loss of sensation resulting from medical procedures. Therapeutic sessions can also be helpful for health conditions such as anxiety, depression, insomnia, digestive disorders, headaches, menopause, arthritis, scoliosis, fibromyalgia and more. I also include corrective exercise plans to optimize your quality of movement.

As your yoga therapist, I investigate your health needs or symptoms and offer personalized solutions for supporting and/or mitigating them. We will begin with an intake session to discuss your needs and goals. Together we’ll explore how your condition affects your body and daily life. I will examine your body mechanics, teach you techniques, breathing, postures and exercises, and guide and support you with ways to improve upon your overall well-being. I observe and track your progress as we work together and educate you throughout the process, so you can feel safe, comfortable, and confident in your body and in your life.

Yoga Therapy serves as complimentary medicine to your current treatment plan. Therapeutic yoga can work in tandem with your physical therapy and mental health counseling to provide a more rounded, comprehensive approach to healing. The physical, meditative and spiritual aspects of yoga combine to generate a therapeutic process that simultaneously works both internally and externally. And, more doctors are recommending yoga for to create a more comprehensive approach for healing programs. That’s why, with the help of a skilled and experienced yoga therapist, you can work toward healing your mind and body, increasing your spiritual awareness and improving your overall well-being.
